Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Mayan Territories, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A lovely necklace strung with a thin leather cord displaying eight petite greenstone beads in hues ranging from pale sage to deep emerald-green. Each bead is drilled for suspension, with four threaded on either side of a small figural pendant. The diminutive anthropomorphic figure is depicted seated and has its head turned slightly to the right with both arms extended downwards towards bent knees. A classic Mayan style transformed into a modern fashion statement! Amethyst fragment for photography display purposes only. Size (necklace): 9.5" L (24.1 cm); size (pendant): 1.5" H (3.8 cm).
