Melanie Boone (American, XX). Hand-painted mixed media collage, ca. late 20th century. Signed at lower left. A mesmerizing, large-scale, mixed media collage painting by Melanie Boone. At the center of the composition is an elegant crane with beautifully delineated features and plumage. Surrounding this crane are painted silhouettes of smaller flying birds and falling leaves, grid motifs, collaged metallic gold leaves and silver confetti as well as expressive paint splatters, followed by an elaborate border of captivating patterns comprised of organic as well as geometric motifs, some hand painted and others printed on collaged papers. All is delineated in an attractive palette - various shades of peach, grey, rose, gold, teal, aqua, cobalt, rose, black, white, sage, mauve, periwinkle and more. About the artist: Melanie Boone studied painting, drawing, and assemblage art at Fullerton Junior College in Southern California. She continued her studies at UCLA and explored various techniques in the studio.
