Latin America, Mexico, ca. 20th to 21st century CE. An enchanting pendant made from a fossilized shark tooth set into a modern sterling silver mount with a lovely Mexican fire opal cabochon. Curving wires and granulation are applied around the setting and the opaque, pink surface of the fire opal is heavily polished with a milky vein and green-blue flashes of iridescence. The pendant is strung on a modern cord which can easily be switched to different length or chain depending on one's preference! Size of pendant: 2.25" L x 1.5" W (5.7 cm x 3.8 cm); cord: 21" L (53.3 cm); silver quality: 94.8%; weight: 21.5 grams
