Attributed to Felipe Linares Mendoza (1936-present), Untitled Flowering Skeleton, papier-mache, ca. 1988 CE. A large papier-mache sculpture of a skeleton standing on a wooden base with sprouting flowers, cacti, and a yucca / palm tree emerging from its limbs with reptiles and a scorpion. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, the earth is reclaiming this skeletal figure. The underside of the base is dated 1988 and unsigned. Compare to a similar piece titled "La Muerte Enramada" by Felipe Linares in the British Museum's online collection, museum number: Am1990,08.2. Felipe Linares made a series of skeletons with flowers during the 1980s. Size: 11.75" L x 5" W x 31.5" H (29.8 cm x 12.7 cm x 80 cm)
