Description:

Latin America, Mexico, ca. late 20th to early 21st century CE. A refined Mexican sterling silver bracelet composed of sculptural interlocking links whose clean, flowing forms give the piece a distinctly modernist character. Each link is shaped as a tapered, curved element with a circular opening, creating a rhythmic chain that balances fluidity with solid geometric presence. The bracelet closes with a lobster claw clasp stamped "925" and "86", indicating sterling silver content and likely a workshop or maker's production number. Mexican silver jewelry has long been associated with bold modernist design, particularly from the mid 20th century onward when artists working in Taxco developed distinctive sculptural forms in sterling silver. The stylized link pattern bears a notable resemblance to the chain designs popularized by William Spratling, the influential American designer who helped establish Taxco as an international center for modern silver jewelry beginning in the 1930s. Size: 9" L x 0.3" W (22.9 cm x 0.8 cm); silver quality: 96.33%; weight: 44.7 grams

Spratling's work often emphasized strong, architectural links that functioned as both structure and ornament, a design philosophy echoed in this bracelet's smooth, sculptural chain. With its polished finish, substantial links, and elegant simplicity, the bracelet reflects the enduring influence of the Taxco silver tradition and the lasting appeal of modernist Mexican jewelry design.
