Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 500 to 200 BCE. A finely shaped standing anthropomorphic figure string cut from calcitic serpentine, displaying abstract geometric facial features, a sloped forehead, and columnar body with a suspension hole drilled though one arm. The mottled surface bears olive and grey mineral inclusions that enrich its ritual presence. Accompanying it is an abstract maskoid head, rendered from chloritic greenstone, with simple string cut, incised facial detailing, and suspension perforation at the top. The lustrous green surface and stylized form reflect the region's minimalist yet highly symbolic stone artistry. Size of head: 2.2" L x 2" W (5.6 cm x 5.1 cm); 2.5" H (6.4 cm) on included custom stand; figure: 3.25" L x 1" W (8.3 cm x 2.5 cm); 4.2" H (10.7 cm) on included custom stand.
