Michoacan & Chupicuaro. Ca. 400 - 100 B.C. Three different decorated pottery examples including a Chupicuaro bowl decorated on the interior with black and tan bands of geometric elements and alternating red-brown bands. The exterior is decorated with three large double spiral geometric elements on a wide red-brown band. Low pedestal foot. Intact. Together with two different Michoacan decorated bowls, the taller example stands on integral tripod rattle type legs, and has an incised crosshatched roundel in the interior center, surrounded with an orange-red and white abstract bird. General wear to the painted surface, otherwise intact. The remaining bowl has a cream-tan slip surface with a brown painted center figure and a wide geometric decorated outer band. One leg cleanly reattached with break line left visible. Size: 9"D. & 5-3/4"D. & 8-1/4"D.
