Description:

Pre-Columbian, Western Mexico, Michoacan, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. A polychrome tripod rattle leg vessel, extensively decorated throughout with stylized geometric motifs and linear patterns inspired by textile designs - featuring concentric circles, checkerboard, ridged, and angular designs, all in russet red, chocolate brown, and cream hues. This painstakingly painted decorative program graces nearly every surface, embellishing both the bowl and rattle legs. Impressive artistry and technique - and the vessel legs still contain their original rattles that create a pleasing percussive sound! Size: 8" W x 4.3" H (20.3 cm x 10.9 cm)
