Western Europe, Switzerland, ca. mid-19th century CE. A wonderful 8-tune brass cylinder music box constructed from rosewood with 35 steel teeth, on/off and change/repeat switches, and an original tune card on the underside of the lid. Wound via crank lever, the roll contains 8 songs as follows: "The Mockingbird Polka" by Charles Grobe, "Bonne Bouche, polka" by Emile Waldteufel, "Call Me Back," "For he's gone and married Yum-Yum" from the opera "The Mikado; or, The Town of Titipu" by Andrew Sullivan, "White Wings" by Banks Winter, "The Black Hussar" by Carl Millocker, "Racquet Galop" E. Kate Simmons, and a chorus from "The Mascot" by Edmond Audran. Still functions; plays at least 4 songs, each lasting about 1 minute. Size: 16" L x 7.25" W x 5.25" H (40.6 cm x 18.4 cm x 13.3 cm); of cylinder: 5.125" L (13 cm)

Cylinder and lever are marked "58095" and other parts of apparatus are marked "51," "T51," "X51," and "C" in various locations. Expected age wear with patina throughout. Still functions; plays at least 4 songs, each lasting about 1 minute.
