Description:

Central Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Chokwe peoples, ca. mid 20th century CE. A carved wooden comb with a handle in the form of an anthropomorphic head, its neck serving as the handle, with stylized geometric motifs as the comb-prong base. The face exhibits almond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, thin lips, semicircular ears, and a bulbous coiffure atop a wide brow line. Enveloped in a dark-russet-hued patina, this is a fabulous example! Museum-quality display stand included. Size: 10.5" H (26.7 cm); 12.25" H (31.1 cm) on included custom stand.
