West Africa, northern Togo, Kara Region, Doufelgou District, Losso (also Nawdba) peoples, ca. mid-20th century CE. An intriguing standing figure presenting stylized features such as a cylindrical lower body, a tubular torso with plank arms, and sloped shoulders that taper to a broad neck. The raised head narrows to form a laterally projecting 'snout' topped with a cylindrical finial, and the entire sculpture is covered in smooth patina. Size: 2.5" W x 8.4" H (6.4 cm x 21.3 cm); 8.9" H (22.6 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Houston, Texas, USA collection, purchased from various American galleries between 2000 and 2016
