North Pacific, Hawaii, ca. 1950s CE. A sizable discoid bowl with a circular base and rounded walls that gently curve inward to an annular base over a shallow basin. Carved from a tree native to tropical areas, the monkeypod wood boasts a natural woodgrain surface of swirling hues of golden caramel and chestnut with chocolate brown striations. Size: 9.625" in diameter x 2.875" H (24.4 cm x 7.3 cm)

  • Condition: Collection label on base. Stable fissure starting at rim travelling down to mid-body with some repair at lower part. A few light nicks and scratches commensurate with age. Remains of an adhesive residue on interior and along rim. Otherwise, very nice.
