Central Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Pende people, ca. 1940s to 1950s CE. A pair of cast copper- zinc alloy pendant masks known as ikhokho (gikhokho), which are miniatures of carved masks. These were usually worn on cords or beaded strands as personal adornments that act as both aesthetic and protective talismans that ensure the health of the wearer. Size: 3" L x 2" W (7.6 cm x 5.1 cm); 4" H (10.2 cm) on included custom stand.
