Ancient Greece, Corinth, Archaic Period, ca. 7th to 6th century BCE. An endearingly miniature in scale polychrome skyphos, a dual-handled cup form that was extremely popular throughout Magna Graecia and was exported from Athens throughout the Greek world, including into Italy. This particular example may be categorized as Type A under Beazley's classification system, with two horizontal handles attached just below the lip. The body gradually narrows as the eye descends to the flat foot of the vessel, and the surface is nicely decorated with a wide horizontal bands of red coloration. Size: 2.5" W x 1.2" H (6.4 cm x 3 cm)
