Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Mixtec people, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. A pretty necklace composed of green and grey stones, shell, and a copper, teardrop-shaped bell. There are approximately 80 green stone beads, each interspersed with a wider shell bead. Two large cylindrical, dark green stone beads are at the center of the necklace, above two thin, pale green stone disc beads. Four grey stone anthropomorphic-shaped beads are above the dark green large beads. Modern stringing. Very wearable! Size: 26" L of necklace; copper bead: 0.6" W x 0.75" H (66 cm; 1.5 cm x 1.9 cm)

Provenance: private R. D. collection, Long Beach, California, USA collection, acquired over twenty five years from various major galleries
