Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 400 to 700 CE. A hollow-molded pottery figure standing atop fused legs, wearing a knee-length gown, holding a small ear of corn against the broad chest, and displaying an incised necklace around the wide neck. The stylized countenance is composed of puffy almond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, full lips, rounded cheeks, and tall ears bedecked with large earrings, all beneath a simple head wrap. The figure is painted with pale-orange slip, and applied areas of thick white pigment accentuate the eyes and necklace. Size: 3.125" W x 6" H (7.9 cm x 15.2 cm).
