East Asia, Mongolia, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A copper serving jug, known as a dombo, traditionally used for tea service. The vessel presents a tall, tapered cylindrical form with a broad spout and a hinged vertical handle designed to swivel for ease of pouring. The body is reinforced with horizontal copper seam bands and embellished with repousse nickel-brass appliques depicting auspicious Buddhist symbols and foliate motifs. Dombo jugs such as this were an essential component of Mongolian domestic life, used for serving suutei tsai (milk tea), a daily staple beverage central to hospitality and communal meals. A fine example of Mongolian copperwork that blends practicality with cultural symbolism. Size: 5.5" W x 12.75" H (14 cm x 32.4 cm)

- Condition: Patina and scratches from age and use. The base has small holes and was reattached to the vessel, but this does not affect the presentation. Nice coloration to copper and some green patina to brass appliques.
