Description:

Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to End of Pliocene Eras., ca. 23,000,000 - 2,600,000 BCE. A monster-sized fossil megalodon shark tooth of commanding scale: 6.1 inches in length (15.5 cm), so large it barely fit within the calipers! The broad triangular crown rises from a thick, well-preserved root, with visible serrations along the cutting edges and natural enamel luster across the blade. Subtle color variation from warm tan to deeper brown reflects mineralization during fossilization, while the root retains areas of darker matrix and marine wear, with sand and grit caught within the fissures. The scale and weight of the specimen convey the immense size of megalodon, whose teeth were designed for shearing through large marine prey. A highly sought-after "6+ inch" that conveys the sheer size of these prehistoric sharks! Size: 6.1" L x 4.7" W (15.5 cm x 11.9 cm)

Provenance: private Berthoud, Colorado, USA collection
