Lot 10
Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th to 20th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1070 BCE. A hand-built pottery vessel known as a pinch basket because of how the petite handles are pinched together above the center. The round-bottomed vessel has a petite perforation through the handles so it could be transported, though its size suggests it was used for a votive purpose. Scholars also believe pinch baskets like this example to have been used as baby-feeding vessels given the form of the lateral 'spouts'. Size: 1.48" L x 2.87" W x 2.05" H (3.8 cm x 7.3 cm x 5.2 cm)
