Description:

Ancient Greece, Mycenaean, Middle Helladic II to Late Helladic II, ca. 1900 to 1400 BCE; Ancient Near East, Holyland, Late Bronze Age, Canaanite, ca. 1600 to 1200 BCE. A harmonious pairing of Bronze Age vessels, this Mycenaean bowl and Canaanite jug together conjure the shared rhythms of domestic life and ritual across the Aegean and Levant. The wide, flaring bowl is decorated with painted red bands and a sinuous wave below the rim, evoking the sea or the divine, its open form ideal for offerings or communal meals. By contrast, the globular jug features twin handles, a narrow neck, a flared rim, and faint linear decoration - a form well-suited for pouring wine or oil and frequently found in Late Bronze Age Canaanite port towns. Though shaped by different hands, these vessels echo a common visual language and attest to the vibrant trade, taste, and spiritual expression of two interconnected civilizations. Size of larger (bowl): 9.5" Diameter x 3.1" H (24.1 cm x 7.9 cm)
