Description:

Ancient Greece, Mycenaean, ca. 1500 BCE. A wheel-made pottery stirrup jar of a classic Mycenaean form with a bulbous body, a flat base, conjoined twin handles on top, and a side spout. The vessel is hand painted with encircling bands of black, red, and a pale pink. The handles and spout are also painted. A fine example from when Mycenae was at its peak of influence, trading throughout the Mediterranean. A vessel like this one may have been used to hold and transport oil. Size: 3.75" W x 3.9" H (9.5 cm x 9.9 cm)
