Hopi. Ca. 1905 - 1915. Nampeyo b. 1857 d. 1942. Polychrome decorated small pottery jar having three registers of a scroliate floral decoration, referred to as a moyal. The Hopi Indian moyal refers to a specific symbol or representation within Hopi culture. Hopi symbols are deeply intertwined with their identity and spirituality, often representing concepts such as change, balance, and the connection to nature. For example, the Hopi butterfly symbol represents change, while the Hopi eagle prayer feather symbolizes hope and strength.
