Description:

Native American, southwestern United States, Arizona, Upper Gila River region, Pueblo III, McDonald style, ca. 1200 to 1350 CE. A hand-built redware pottery olla with a round but stable base, a spherical body, and a short neck with a lightly-flared rim. The interior of the vessel boasts a jet-black color, and the matte vermilion exterior is covered in dozens of diagonal corrugations which imbue the surface with a textured presentation. Size: 6.5" W x 5.2" H (16.5 cm x 13.2 cm).

  • Condition: Small loss to upper shoulder, and light adhesive residue along fissures stemming from corners. Chips to rim and shoulder, with fading and fire-darkening to areas of exterior pigmentation, and softening to some corrugations. Light earthen deposits throughout.
