Native American, Midwestern to Southeastern United States, Mississippian, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A beautiful necklace constructed using dozens of petite tubular beads carved from white shell. Each bead is of an oblong form and exhibits both white and brown hues, and all beads are strung on a modern necklace strand capped with a silver-colored loop and lobster clasp combo. Size (necklace): 30" L (76.2 cm); (largest bead): 0.4" L x 0.25" W (1 cm x 0.6 cm)
