Description:

Native American, Western United States, Plains Tribes, Cree or Eastern Sioux people, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A stunning buckskin jacket with intricate floral-patterned beading. The eastern Sioux people are known for their vegetal rather than geometric of western tribes. The shoulders, front panels, and pocket flaps are stitched with hundreds of beads in transparent and opaque hues of blue, pink, white, yellow, black, and red. The cut and style of this jacket was influenced by European contact. The red wool felt accent hems and cuffs, brass buttons, and fringed shoulders make this a very handsome piece which is in remarkably well-preserved condition. Size: 29" L x 20" W (73.7 cm x 50.8 cm)
