Description:

Mexico & Native American, Southwestern United States, Navajo (Dine), ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A collection of sterling silver and turquoise jewelry created by Native American and Mexican artisans. The group includes two cuff bracelets and three pairs of earrings. The largest cuff, adorned with vibrant turquoise cabochons framed in silverwork, is stamped "V. Hicks," identifying it as the work of Navajo silversmith Victor Hicks. A pair of turquoise drop earrings bears the hallmark "RLB" for the Zuni jeweler Robert Leekya. Another pair of earrings, each set with three turquoise stones, is possibly marked "A. JAKE," likely referencing a Navajo artist. A plain silver cuff bracelet is stamped "RM," by an unidentified maker. Completing the set is a pair of geometric cross-form earrings of Mexican origin, stamped with traditional hallmarks. Size of largest cuff: 2.5" Diameter x 1" W (6.4 cm x 2.5 cm); gap opening; 1.125" W (2.9 cm); silver quality: 91% to 93%; total combined weight: 157.4 grams
