Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. A beautifully modeled polychrome female figure seated with her legs folded under her body, holding a bowl in her left hand and her right hand away from her body. She wears a thick headband, large nosering, painted multi-strand beaded necklace, and shell-shaped ear ornaments. Otherwise she is nude except for her knee length skirt and elaborate body paint and/or tattoo marks across her chest. Her visage is quite expressive with wide, almond shaped eyes, pronounced nose, and open mouth. Size: 7.5" W x 10" H (19 cm x 25.4 cm)
