Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 600 to 800 CE. A beautiful hand-built polychrome bowl with a round but stable base, and slightly concave walls. The exterior is handsomely decorated with three black-spotted grey jaguars presenting expressive visages comprised of wide almond-shaped eyes, projecting whiskers, long tongues, perky ears, and sinuous tails - delineated in black, grey, red, and white hues. A fabulous example from ancient Peru! Size: 6.25" in diameter x 3" H (15.9 cm x 7.6 cm)

  • Condition: Minor nicks to rim and base and .25" divot to the back of one jaguar. Slight surface wear commensurate with age, otherwise intact and very good. Nice burnishing marks. Light earthen deposits throughout.
