**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca culture, ca. 100 to 700 CE. A matching pair of hand-built pottery bowls of shallow forms featuring highly abstract killer whales (or sharks) within each basin. Each bowl has a round but stable base, a flared rim, and a shallow, white-painted basin. The fish / whales are painted in red, orange, and dark brown stripes along their bodies as well as pectoral and dorsal fins, a forked tail, and a keyhole-shaped head with one enormous eye and rows of bared teeth. Both have a human-like arm that brandishes an attenuated spearhead. Size: 7" Diameter x 2.1" H (17.8 cm x 5.3 cm)
