Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 0 to 400 CE. A polychrome pottery jar painted with a human head with nose in high relief having a high collar rim. The olla depicts a stylized human head with a fancifully coiffed moustache. The collar is elaborately decorated with three representations of floating stylized underworld figures, perhaps warriors, and a repeated step motif just under the rim. All is hand painted in shades of red, chocolate brown, tawny beige, and white. Size: 5.5" W x 6" H (14 cm x 15.2 cm)
