Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca culture, ca. 100 to 800 CE. A necklace composed of ancient copper-silver alloy beads alternating with translucent quartz discs and featuring a silver tweezer pendant. Such tweezers served both utilitarian and ceremonial purposes, often used for depilation and placed as grave goods to symbolize personal refinement and ritual purity. Size of strand doubled: 23" L (58.4 cm); tweezer: 1.125" L x 0.75" W (2.9 cm x 1.9 cm); silver quality: 895 to 98%; weight: 41.4 grams
