Jasperware or jasper ware is a style of stoneware pottery created by Josiah Wedgewood in the late 18th century. The name stems from the semi-precious stone jasper in reference to the colors these pieces were stained and to encourage sales. Jasperware was widely popular and replicated by other artisans to create cameos.
