Description:

Europe. Ca. 6000 - 2400 B.C. Natural rich brown flint having a flat face surface with an incised drawing depicting the front portion on a goat in profile, having a long curved horn and full long hairy chest. Overall mottled brown surface patina. A rare and interesting example. "Goat domestication began during the Neolithic period, approximately 10,000 to 11,000 years ago. This pivotal event occurred within the Fertile Crescent, a region encompassing modern-day Iran, Iraq and Turkey. Archaeological sites like Nevali Çori in Turkey and Ganj Dareh in the Zagros Mountains of Iran provide some of the earliest evidence of this transition." - biologyinsights.com.
