Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Guanacaste/Nicoya region, ca. 200 to 600 CE. A beautiful pendant of an abstract anthropomorphic figure in profile, hand-carved from a fragment of forest-green stone with inclusions in hues of citrine, beige, and azure. The curved lower body is delineated at the waist with a single horizontal arm, and the bulbous head displays elegant string-cut features like slit-form eyes, a grooved forehead, and a bulbous chin. The biconically-drilled suspension hole serves as the figure's singular 'eye.' A fine example of refined lapidary techniques from ancient Costa Rica! Size: 1" W x 2.5" H (2.5 cm x 6.4 cm).
