Description:

Ancient Egypt, ca. 21st/26th dynasty, ca. 1075-600 BCE. Carved from a fine-grained hardwood, the oval/heart-shaped face with finely delineated naturalistic nose and lips, long almond-shaped eyes, and finely arched tapering eyebrows merging smoothly with the contour of the bridge of the nose. Original paint, original gesso, original peg holes on backside for attachment to sarcophagus with some original pegs still in place. 14.50"L x 11.50"W (36.83 L x 29.21 W cm)

Provenance: Ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago IL, acquired prior to 1970.
