Description:

Pre-Columbian, Colombia to Ecuador (Carchi), Narino Highlands, ca. 800 to 1500 CE. A great set of hand-built pottery bowls, each with a circular foot, rolling walls, thin rims, and deep tondos. The exterior of the first bowl is decorated with red diagonal stripes and faded areas of black-and-cream panels, and the interior displays eighteen blank circles, ten black circles with three smaller circles each, and red-painted rims. The second bowl depicts large cream-hued panels with black stripes on the exterior, and red ovals with white fringe as well as a large star and red circle on the interior. Highly-burnished and expertly-decorated, these are two lovely examples. Size of largest (interior circles): 7.625" W x 4.25" H (19.4 cm x 10.8 cm).
