Description:

East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A pair of mold-made ceramic soldiers, made to be placed into an elite tomb. Fascinatingly, the soldiers are almost identical - except for the positioning of the arms and the accessories they hold. Each wears a conical cap and heavy clothing, dark blue with a sky blue armor-like covering, with a red and black tunic over it. Each stands on an integral platform, supported on sturdy black booted feet. One holds what appears to be a bow, also painted sky blue, in front of his chest. The other holds two rattle-like musical instruments in front of his body. Size of one (they are nearly identical): 3.45" W x 9.25" H (8.8 cm x 23.5 cm)
