Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Chupicuaro culture, ca. 500 BCE to 100 BCE. This lot features two handsome Chupicuaro blackware ceramics. The low, wide bowl has a stepped edge with a row of incising beneath sweeping carved markings circumambulating the shoulder. Supported by three pointed hollow legs, this piece shows the richness of burnished blackware in all its glory. The taller bowl features a pronounced incised lower section creating a striated pattern sure to please any lover of geometry, a basal shoulder resolving in a softly flared rim. 3 1/2"T x 6 1/2"D at widest
