South Carolina, Cenozoic Era, approximately 15.9 to 2.6 million years old. A fabulous pair of teeth from this massive mega shark. Found in a river bottom in South Carolina in conditions suitable for only for the bravest of divers! Wonderful to have a pair of teeth from this extinct species of shark regarded as the largest and most powerful predator in vertebrate history. The teeth show interesting erosion from millions of years of exposure producing wonderful sculptural qualities. The tooth enamel on one shows hues of lighter grey, black and tan on the front and mostly light grey on the back with deep black-brown roots. On the second tooth, the front side shows hues of deep grey and brown, the back lighter and darker greys. The roots are of caramel brown hues. Sizes: 3-1/2"L x 2-3/4"W and 3-1/4"L x 2-3/4"W.
