Mexico, 300 to 1200 CE. Dr. Allen Heflin was a major figure in the study of Pre-Columbian cultures in the period between 1945 and 1970. While only an amateur, Dr. Heflin found and cataloged thousands of objects in his travels throughout Mexico. These 2 objects were each found by Dr. Heflin. First, miniature Teotihuacan decorated dish, with interior in scalloped floral pattern covered in white slip. It was found at Teotihuacan in 1960 by Dr. Heflin. 2-1/2" D. Next, a very cute Huastec maskette carved from sea shell, in the form of a jaguar face. 1-7/8" L. Provenance: Ex Heflin collection.
