Description:

Pre-Columbian, border area of Costa Rica and Panama (Diquis Zone) dating to Chirique Phase, ca. 1000-1500 CE. These elegant earthenware forms represents early pottery created in the border area between Panama and Costa Rica. First we have a double-spouted, perhaps "wedding" vessel decorated with zoomorphic forms. The olla has a rounded bottom creating a lovely egg-shaped volume. Incised chevron motifs adorn the neck of this vessel. 6 1/4"H x 7"D at widest (olla); 4 1/4"H x 5 1/2"D at widest (wedding vessel)
