Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, ca. 16th to 18th century CE, Ayutthaya period. A pair of near-miniature cast bronze heads of Buddha Sakyamuni (The Awakened One). Both appear to be in the Ayutthaya Kampheng Phet style, faces with serene expressions, arched eyebrows above downcast eyes, aquiline nose, slightly smiling lips, elongated earlobes, hairdress and ushnisha, the latter surmounted by a flame-like form. Note the beautiful deep rich patina and gold paint on one! Size: 2" and 1-7/8". Provenance: Ex-private Scott McCue collection, Santa Fe, NM. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. #109932
