Lot 150A
Central Asia, Persia (Iran), Qashqai culture, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. flat-woven wool kilim rug displaying the bold geometric vocabulary characteristic of Qashqai tribal weaving traditions. The field is organized with large repeating hexagonal medallions filled with angular motifs in red, indigo, ivory, and muted blue, set against a warm camel-toned ground. Smaller geometric devices and stepped forms animate the surrounding space, while multiple guard borders frame the composition with repeating diamond and latch-hook patterns in saturated orange, navy, and cream. The weave is tight and even, with visible hand-spun wool and natural dye tonal variation that lends depth to the surface. Finished with braided selvages and fringe ends, this textile reflects the nomadic aesthetic and enduring craftsmanship of the Qashqai weavers. Size: 93" L x 61" W (236.2 cm x 154.9 cm)
