Description:

Southeast Asia, Philippines, Luzon, Igorot people, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A traditional war spear featuring a formidable carbon steel blade with two large barbs, securely hafted to a long wooden shaft. The head is reinforced with finely woven rattan cane ferrules, providing durability and grip at the socket. At the opposite end, an iron spike with a conical socket is fitted, allowing the spear to be planted upright in the ground when at rest or used as a secondary thrusting point in combat. Such spears were carried by Igorot warriors as effective javelins, their broad barbs designed to cause significant damage and resist removal.
