Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, Hopi, ca. early to mid-20th century CE; Akimel O'odham (Pima) or Tohono O'odham (Papago), ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A Hopi Sikyatki Revival style pottery jar and 2 handwoven baskets. The smaller basketry bowl has pictorial elements of horses or dogs in a contrasting dark brown. The larger, flatter tray has signs of use and likely dates from the late 1800s to 1900s. Size of tray: 14.25" Diameter x 2" H (36.2 cm x 5.1 cm)

  • Condition: Losses to the outer rim as of largest basket as shown, with loss to coil and splints in several areas. Rest of this basket is tightly woven with clear signs of age and use. Other basket is intact and excellent. The pottery jar has some fading and losses to pigments, otherwise intact and unsigned.
