Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Nayarit Lowlands, near the village of Amapa, Ixcuintli, late Post-Classic period, ca. 1100 to 1350 CE. A hand-built and highly-burnished pottery jar with a concave base, an apple-shaped body with a rounded shoulder, a corseted neck line, and a flared rim with a thick lip. The vessel is presented with a red-orange ground, atop which intricately-painted white bands create spiraling, stepped, geometric, and abstract motifs. Size: 5.25" W x 5.1" H (13.3 cm x 13 cm).
