Middle East, Holyland, ca. 4th century CE. Lovely pair of molded terracotta oil lamps, both adorned with similar decoration comprised of rayed pattern with scroll and circular motifs. The handles are quite lively, in the form of stylized zoomorphic heads. One has a rather simple molded decoration on the underside as well. Size: each measures approximatey 4"L. Provenance: Ex-private Denver, CO collection; ex-estate of Warren Koch, New York, acquired from a private NY collection, November 1998.
