Pre-Columbian, Panama, Chiriqui, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. Attractive pair of small pottery vessels in a style commonly called terrago bisque. Each in buff clay and each in animal form or with animal adornments. The first is a small rounded bowl on flared foot, four heads applied to rims along with deeply incised grooves. Second is an oblong bowl on 4 feet, frog heads at each end along with two smaller heads at the midpoint between larger heads. A really fun pair! Size: 4-1/2"W for largest. Provenance: Ex-private Rousseau collection acquired before 1984.
