Pre-Columbian, Panama, Conte Period, ca. 600 to 800 CE. The olla has swirling geometric patterns characteristic of the Conte period in grey and black; there is also red banding around the neck. The lip also has black decoration. The bowl has a design of a spider done in the polychrome Conte style of red, black, and cream. There is banding around the rim in red and black. Size: The olla measures 4-1/2”L x 4-1/2”W x 5-1/2”H; bowl measures 6-3/4”L x 6-3/4”W x 2-3/4”H. Provenance: Ex-private Rousseau collection acquired before 1984.   • Condition: The olla is in good condition, with a patina and some wearing, particularly to one side of the decoration. There is also a small chip on the lip. The bowl has cracked and been repaired in several places, but is intact save one small chip taken from near the lip and the base also has a small chip.
