Description:

Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona, ca. 200 to 1000 CE. Ooh la la, this necklace is truly a masterful feat of wearable art from the Pre-Columbian world. Comprised of twenty-five lozenge-shaped carnelian beads, some as long as one-and-a-half inches, all hand-cut, hand-polished, and biconically drilled, separated by groups of four or five disc-shaped carnelian and greenstone spacers to create a lovely, symmetrical design. The lozenge-shaped carnelian beads are particularly mesmerizing with their brilliant hues ranging from bright russets to tawny golds. Beyond this, each and every one boasts a swirled, 'marbled', or mottled pattern created by Mother Nature. Simply exquisite! Size: 36" L (91.4 cm)
